Because every existing knitted garment is different, it is impossible to produce conventional, ‘closed’ patterns for reknitting. Instead, Amy creates flexible ‘recipes’ that you can adapt to suit the particularities of your item.
So far, she has created these detailed instructions – including step-by-step animations, examples of existing projects, instructional videos, guidance on design and top tips – for three reknit treatments:
REPLACE CUFF remove and replace existing cuff or hem
STITCH HACK reconfigure stitches into new design
CARDIGANISE cut open vertically or diagonally and add trim
After being voted the public’s favourite treatment at the Units of Possibility exhibition, INSERT PANEL will be the next set of instructions to be developed.
